Is $100 a rip off for my gemstone?

I went to a local jewellers to sell my 644.4ct, light smoky Quartz Gemstone. The jeweller said he buys smoky quartz for $3 per ct. Mine is vs cut into a cushion-checkboard and untreated. He said it’s way to big to set and he doesn’t have the skills to cut it, so he offered me $100. He said he would use it as a huge display piece. He also said he hasn’t seen one nearly this big before.
I don’t want to use ebay,
Were I live there’s only 3 jewellers and only 2 seem to know anything about gemstones.

Definitely a rip-off. I’d either break it into several smaller, mountable pieces that if sold individually would bring far more than $100, or put the sucker on Ebay (If I didn’t just keep the thing myself, since I’m assuming it looks freaking badass). If you’re content to just see it on display, why not donate it to a museum or university, where it would actually serve a purpose other than to attract the odd customer into a jewelry store?
